OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2009. Representatives of Techsnabexport OJSC (Tenex, 100% subsidiary of Atomenergoprom OJSC), Electricite de France (EDF) and Russian uranium enrichment and nuclear materials transportation companies held a traditional meeting in Angarsk, Irkutsk region, June 9–11 2009.

The objective of the visit was the guests’ familiarization with Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex (AECC, one of Russia’s uranium enrichment companies, 100% of Atomenergoprom OJSC), exchange of experience and discussion of the current projects.

Director of AECC Alexander Belousov told the guests about the company and answered their questions. The guests visited the Chelnok-A workshop and the Museum of Labor Glory.

The parties told each other about the performance of their companies, their social policies and achievements in the fields of occupation health and safety and ecological safety. The Russian specialists pointed out that France was one of Russia’s key partners in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy and expressed hope for further cooperation. EDF Uranium Conversion Director Frederic Greze said that the Russian products were of very high quality and welcomed Russia’s efforts to ensure its ecological safety. He said that protection of nature was not the concern of one country – Russia or France – but a global task.

The parties believe that, now that the world is experiencing nuclear renaissance, they must not only develop their cooperation but also improve the image of the nuclear industry.
