OREANDA-NEWS  On 11 June was announced, that Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk held a working meeting with UEFA airport expert Peter Hampson.

Mr. Hampson stressed he is satisfied with the process of reconstruction of runways and aerodrome parts in airports of all the host-cities.

At the same time Mr. Hampson expressed worries concerning building of terminals in airports of Lviv and Donetsk. The expert said to hold the championship it is necessary to timely finish new terminals as temporary ones cannot replace major terminals. He noted at least two years are needed to construct a terminal and the time is rather short.

Ivan Vasiunyk informed the expert that building of airport terminals in Donetsk and Lviv will start this autumn anyway. In Lviv main parameters of the terminal have been defined and project is almost ready to be approved. In Donetsk local authorities have to determine final parameters of the project though there are several variants prepared. By the end of month there should be complete determination concerning both projects. It was also decided if by mid-July there aren’t any financial guarantees from the concerned investors the state will start building of terminals at the account of budget funds. It is envisaged by draft changes to the State Target Program of Gearing-Up to Euro-2012. At the same time, the Gov’t has embarked on talks with international financial institutions concerning a possibility to draw credits under the state guarantees for construction of the planned terminals.
