OREANDA-NEWS. July 2, 2009. The authorities of Chelyabinsk region hope that the resettlement of the residents of the village of Muslumovo, an area that has suffered from the activities of Mayak PA in the 1950s, will be completed in 2010.

Deputy Minister of Radiation and Ecological Safety of Chelyabinsk region Svetlana Kostina said on July 1 that 546 of 741 households have been resettled so far. Of them 361 families have left Muslumovo and have bought houses in Chelyabinsk region.

The rest are moving to Novomuslumovo. “We have already built 176 houses in Novomuslumovo and 80% of them are already inhabited. The recovery of Techa River basin and the nearby settlements will be completed by 2015. Presently, we are implementing two special ecological programs in the territory of Muslumovo,” Kostina said.
