OREANDA-NEWS. July 6, 2009. Two DF4B cargo locomotives produced at the Ziyang locomotive works of the China South Railway Engineering Corporation were delivered to the Ashgabat locomotive depot. The locomotives for the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan are delivered under the bilateral agreements and the Resolution of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The railway departments started to test the locomotives with the capacity of up to 6,600 hp. The machines were delivered to Turkmenistan by the Capital Longji Company. It is the second ‘strength test’ for Chinese high-powered equipment. The first tests had been conducted in presence of the Turkmen experts at the producer factory.

Ten shunting, five passenger and nine cargo locomotives, which were delivered to Turkmenistan in the previous years, passed the test. In 2005-2009 the machines delivered from the People’s Republic of China have run over 600,000 km. During this period they needed no repair. This time the rolling stock of the Ashgabat depot was replenished with two locomotives.

A group of the Chinese specialists works in Ashgabat and provides the warranty services of new locomotives and trainings to Turkmen locomotive drivers and mechanics.
