OREANDA-NEWS. July 8, 2009. Yandex.Maps now offers its users an opportunity to view their routes (GPS tracks) on a computer and email them to others. Using the new functionality, people can share their walking or driving routes with friends.

To make track records, all you need is a GPS-enabled cell phone equipped with the mobile Yandex.Maps application and a spirit for travel – by car, by canoe or on foot. After completing the route, you can export its track from your cell phone straight to My Maps, personalized login- and password-protected extension of Yandex.Maps. To share a route with someone, enable open access to the My Maps page showing this route and email the link to it.

In addition to route tracks, My Maps can also store placemarks – you can add comments to every turn of your route. This is, for instance, what the route between the two Yandex offices in Moscow looks like.
