OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2009. Voronezh subsidiary’s haulage exceeded 4 million metric tons in the first half of the year. The subsidiary has more than quintupled its haulage since the beginning of the year. The subsidiary loaded more than 62,000 railway cars during the period, which amounts to 13% of the total haulage on the Southeastern Railway.

The increase was mainly due to an increase (seventeen-fold since the beginning of the year) in iron ore haulage in gondola cars from Stoylensk and Lebedinsk ore mining and processing complexes for the metallurgical industry. Haulage of construction freight from Pavlovsk-Voronezhsky and Yelets stations also increased substantially (three-fold), as did haulage of sugar and other food products from Shebekino, Nikiforovka and Valuyki stations (by 130%).

"The subsidiary increased its production indicators by working directly with senders. The number of agreements doubled to more than 100 in the first half of the year. The subsidiary has been hauling new types of freight. Specifically, we’ve been successfully increasing haulage of food products. Since the beginning of the year we have been working with almost all of the sugar plants of the central black earth region as well as vegetable oil producers and major grain recipients in the region", says Voronezh subsidiary director Alexander Gerasimov.
