OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2009. 18 graduates of specialized universities from different regions of Russia will be employed by Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant as a result of an employment competition held on July 21 2009.

The specialists represent Konakovo Power College, Kursk State Polytechnic College, Bezhetsk Industrial Economic College, Torzhok State Industrial Humanitarian College, Tver Industrial Economic College.

Acting Director of Kalinin NPP Mikhail Kanyshev and the heads of the key departments of the plant spoke with the youths. The winners of the contest will be given jobs at the electric department, chemical department, turbine departments 1 and 2, thermal automatics and measurements department.

Kalinin NPP is situated in the north of Tver region: 125 km away from Tver, 330 km from Moscow, 400 km from St.Petersburg, on the southern shore of Lake Udomlia. The total area of the plant is 287.37 h. The plant has three WWER-1000 reactors (1000 MW each). Kalinin NPP is part of the United Energy System of Central Russia. Its electricity is transmitted to eight regions via two 330KV and four 750KV lines. The 4th unit is under construction and is to be launched in 2011.
