OREANDA-NEWS. On 29 July 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ producer price index (PPI) went up 0.4% on the month in June, but rose 18.9% in January-June 2009, an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Production facilities prices edged up 0.1%, intermediate materials prices went up 0.4%, and consumer goods prices increased 0.5%.

Prices rose 0.3% in the medical industry, 0.4% in the microbiological industry, 0.2% in the light industry, 0.2% in the food industry.

Prices also rose in the fuel industry 0.6%, in mechanical engineering and metalworking 0.1%, and in other industrial sectors 0.1%.

Producer prices increased in the electricity industry 0.3%, in ferrous metallurgy 1.9%, in the chemical industry 0.2%, and in the porcelain industry 0.3%.

Prices remained unchanged in the petrochemical sector.

Freight tariffs went increased 3.2% in June 2009 over May. Automobile freight tariffs went down 0.4%, while railroad freight tariffs went up 4.7%, air transport tariffs went up 4.1%, and pipeline tariffs went up 1.1%.

PPI rose 14.2% on the year in 2008 following the rise of 17.1% on the year in 2007.
