OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2009. For the second consecutive year Chepetsk Mechanical Plant OJSC has been recognized as the best investor of the Republic of Udmurtia. The awarding ceremony took place in the building of the Government of the Republic of Udmurtia on July 17 2009. The competition was held by the Ministry of Economy of Udmurtia in the framework of the republican target program to create favorable investment climate in the Republic of Udmurtia in 2007–2009.

This year CMP submitted two projects: establishment of production of superconducting materials and reconstruction of zirconium production.

The latter project was launched in 1995: the market urged the company to reduce the cost of its products, to improve their quality and to search for promising and ecologically friendly technologies.

The new equipment has helped CMP to reduce the rolled zirconium production cycle and to improve the quality of the product.

The launched of the production of superconducting materials is part of Russia’s obligations under the ITER project.

This is Russia’s only production of niobium-tin (Nb3Sn) and niobium-titanium (NbTi) super-conductors. It is based on closed cycle: from fabrication of original materials and components (niobium, niobium-titanium allows, noil) to superconducting strands.

In 2008 CMP spent 873.36mln RUR on the reconstruction of the zirconium production and 504.9mln RUR on the establishment of the production of superconducting materials. These projects have created new jobs and have substantially improved the competitiveness of the company’s products.
