OREANDA-NEWS. July 30, 2009. A group of experts is considering ways to remove the fuel of the first units of Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant from the plant.

The AMB-100 and AMB-200 reactors of Beloyarsk NPP were shut down in the 1980s. Their fuel is stored in cooling ponds. In order to decommission the units the plant needs to dispose of the fuel. The contractor of the project is the federal Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety.

The project will consist of two stages. The director of the project and a group of experts of the Federal Center for Nuclear and Raditioan Safety are considering ways to implement this work.
