OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 August 2009 was announced, that a solemn ceremony of new atomic submarine was held at Sevmash.

Multipurpose atomic submarine “Kazan” (project developer is ОАО “SPMBM “Malakhit”) will be the upgraded continuation of project Yasen. The improvements relate to the replacement of electronic weapon systems components, as well as to the transition to equipment and materials of Russian production, excluding suppliers from former Soviet republics.

More than 200 honored guests: veterans, representatives of the Navy, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Administration of Arkhangelsk region and Severodvinsk, designers, contractors and employees of Sevmash gathered for the ceremony at the main stockpile shop.

”According to characteristics which are laid down in this submarine by chief designer V.N. Pyalov, this ship will be one of the best. We need such submarines at all fleets” Deputy Chief of Navy Vice Admiral N. Borisov said.

Director General of Sevmash N. Kalistratov solemnly promised to guests: “We will do our best to make equipment we produce powerful and reliable. Equipment shall provide comfortable conditions of service for our seamen, as they perform the important task - ensure the safety of Russia”.

In many speeches festive notes sounded, because it concerns not only the construction of submarine “Kazan”, but as our guests emphasized a series of these submarines, and shipbuilders will have work for the next few years.

“It is pleasant that Sevmash managed not only to maintain the production and the unique powers, but all this is developing”, the First Vice Prime Minister of Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Muratov emphasized. “And, of course, we are pleased that the new name of the ship is given in honor of the capital of Tatarstan”. Guests from Tatarstan awarded the best workers and engineers of Sevmash. Among them there were V.Pinchuk and welders Ju.Ritko. They welded the memory board inscription: “multipurpose atomic submarine “Kazan” is designed in SPMBM “Malakhit” and laid at OAO “PO “Sevmash” on July 24, 2009” to the section.
