OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2009. Samarskaya Mine operating under Pavlogradugol (DTEK) has started coal extraction at new block 2A. DTEK invested UAH 31.6 million in preparation of the new block, reported the press-centre of SCM.

Reserves of Block 2A make 10.5 million tons of coal. In the process of block preparation the plant carried out a broad scope of activities: it drove about 6 km of permanent mine opening and 2 km of gate-roads; it installed a new main conveyor chain consisting of 4 conveyor belts of the total length 12.7 km. 16 long-walls are expected to operate at the new block with the daily output 1,500-1,700 tons of coal.

State Commission has accepted for commissioning the 164th long-wall and the conveyor chain with the "excellent" grade. The long-wall is equipped with KD-90 complex, KA-80 combine and SPTs-163 conveyor. It is 180m long; the pillar length is 740m and the thickness of coal bed is 0.9m. The 164th long-wall is expected to produce more than 1,300 tons of coal every day.

“Implementation of the project on preparation of the new block of Samarskaya Mine is of priority importance. The new block is the mine's perspective; the mining works are expected to last for 15 years", stated Nikolay Tishchenko, the CEO of Pavlogradugol (DTEK).
