OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2009. It was informed that the National Statistics Bureau, that the Moldovan export totaled US 580.8 million in January-June this year, down 20.7 per cent from the same period last year. Export to the CIS totaled US 210.9 million, down 27%.

Moldovan production supplies to the EU states reduced by 17.6 per cent to total US 313.9 million. Import to Moldova in January-June 2009 totaled US 1 billion 497.8 million reducing by 35.8 per cent in comparison with the same period last year.

Import to Moldova from the CIS decreased by 32.4 per cent – to US 560.4 million while that from EU countries – by 39.3 per cent to reach US 625.1 million. The deficit of Moldova’s balance of trade with EU states went down 52 per cent in the first half of 2009 against the same period of 2008 – to US 311.2 million, that with CIS countries – by 35.4 per cent – to US 349.5 million.

The largest deficit of Moldova’s balance of trade in the first half of this year was registered in trade with Ukraine, (-US 161 million), Kazakhstan (-US 155.5 million), China (-US 101.3 million), Germany (-US 80.5 million), Turkey (US 64.6 million), Italy (-US 40.8 million), Russia (-US 31.5 million), Austria (-US 22.9 million), Poland (-US19.4 million), France (-US 18.6 million). The data presented by the National Statistics Bureau don’t include trade-economic operations of the Transnistrian region’s enterprises.
