OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2009. The Company investment project ransporting Oil to China aims to ensure seamless shipments of Russian oil. Russian Railways is continuing work on the second stage of the project, which involves the electrification of over 247 km of track between Karymsky and Borzi. The Company has allocated 1.83 billion roubles to the project in 2009 and spent 1.1 billion roubles in IH 2009, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

In 2009, other work includes installing automatic blocking systems and electric centralized points between Borzi and Zabaikalsk, reconstructing the first main track on the Karymsky - Borzi, laying continuous welded rails on various stretches, renovating station track and switches at Olovyannaya Station and other work on infrastructure. All construction is on schedule.

The first stage of the project lasted from 2004 to 2008, during which second main lines were laid to eliminate bottlenecks on various stretches and stations were upgraded between Karymsky and Zabaikalsk.

Between 2004 and 2008, the Company constructed 218.8 km of second main lines to relieve 12 bottlenecks, reconstructed and lengthened passing sidings at 24 stations and side tracks, commissioned 51.7 km of station track and 226 electrical centralised points, a park of border controls at Zabaikalsk Station and built 7.816 million square metres of housing at Karymsky and Zabaikalsk stations. During this period, Russian Railways invested more than 13.4 billion roubles.
