OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 August 2009 was announced, that the Moscow authorities plan to have 2,000 homes completely overhauled in 2010 and the same number – in 2011.

The program aimed at overhauling the housing in the period from 2008 to 2015 provides for repairing 13,000 residential buildings with the total area of 17 million square metres.

Artur Keskinov, head of the Moscow Department for Housing Overhaul, noted at a press conference on August 6 that roughly 1,600 homes were repaired in 2008. According to him, the ongoing crisis has affected all of the city’s programs, including the one aimed at overhauling the housing, however, it is being implemented.

“Despite the hard times, we are to obtain another 8 billion roubles (~USD 254 million) in August. I believe it is very much nowadays. It will be enough to complete work on 200-250 homes originally scheduled to be overhauled in 2008,” Mr Keskinov said and added that those residential buildings would undergo an overhaul starting from the middle of August. “We want to complete the 2009 program by September,” the official emphasized.
