OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 August 2009 was announced, that the first stage of the complex ecological and technical expedition Yamal-2009 was held from 23 July till 7 August, 2009. Specialists of Gazprom VNIIGAZ Centres “Environmental Safety, Energy Efficiency and Labour Protection” and “Gas Resources” took part in the expedition. Scientists of the Institute of Bioecology of RAS SB and Saint-Petersburg Hydrological Institute carried out joint investigations with VNIIGAZ experts.

Big number of engineering and ecological investigations was carried out within the area of Bovanenkovo oil gas condensate field (OGCF) under the scope of the first expedition stage, including:

Assessment of the current state of natural environment components, flora and fauna, conditions for hydrological behavior of water bodies and water courses of Se-Yakha and Morda-Yakha river basins, geocryological processes, level of industrial impact of Bovanenkovo OGCF facilities;

Development of methods of biological treatment of soils contaminated by oil products;

Evaluation of methane emissions with leakages from process equipment;

Verification of results of remote sensing, fixed surveillance and expedition methods of geocryological monitoring;

Readiness status evaluation for infrastructure facilities and adjustment of design solutions in compliance with results of performed investigations.

All planned scope of work was done in a tight schedule thanks to well-coordinated team-work of all expedition participants, and effective collaboration with executives from “Gazprom dobycha Nadym” and “VNIPIgazdobycha”.
