OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2009. The PERM ENGINE COMPANY named the best operator of PS-90A type air-engines. Following the results of 2008, the certificate of the best operator was given to the Russian biggest air carrier Aeroflot JSC, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

Aeroflot became the best PS-90A engine operator owing to a number of indicators: operation rate (average monthly operation time per engine in the company in a year), absence of engine incidents or removals due to operational failure, company’s equipment by diagnostic tools, promptness of diagnostics follow-up measures, etc.

Today, Aeroflot operates six Ilyushin-96-300 aircrafts with PS-90A engines by the Perm manufacturer. The experts of the Perm Engine Company say Aeroflot the most competently operates PS-90A engines. This results in 9,000 hrs of operation rate for engines removed for maintenance, 9,000 hrs for leader engines.

“Since their introduction in 1994, Aeroflot has been the biggest operator of PS-90A engines on its Ilyushin-96 aircrafts,” – says Vitaly Savelyev, Aeroflot CEO. – In this respect, no carrier compares with us in terms of experience accumulated. Aeroflot has been actively participating in the engine improvement works lead by the design engineering bureau and the Perm engine manufacturers. A powerful engine diagnostics system built in Aeroflot provides for high reliability of PS-90A operated by the company, which matches the level of foreign counterparts in terms of this parameter. We are honoured by the award and feel it well-earned.”

When handing the certificate, Mikhail Dicheskul, CEO of the Perm Engine Company stressed that “Aeroflot has become Russia’s first operator of PS-90A engines. The Perm engine manufacturers are proud of the long-term collaboration with the carrier.”

Apart from the best operator’s certificate, Mikhail Dicheskul handed a souvenir – a blade from a high-pressure turbine, having noted that it is the crucial element of the engine’s ‘heart’.
