OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2009. A delegation of AREVA visited Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex Aug 27–29 2009.

The delegation comprised Armand Laferrere, Vice President for Communications Michel-Hubert Jamard, Commercial Director of CIFAL Russia Michel Irgang.

Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation was represented by Head of the Department for Communication with Public Organizations and Regions Igor Konyshev.

The guests visited the Information Center and the separation plant of AECC and met with the managers of the complex and the heads of the Angarsk administration.

They were impressed with the gas centrifuge technology of uranium enrichment and the high motivation of AECC’s personnel.

The guests pointed out the positive experience of use of automated radiation and chemical control system at AECC. Jamard said that in the nuclear industry it is important that the relations with the local authorities and the population should be based on transparency and openness.  The information boards placed at AECC and in Angarsk are a good example of such openness. Areva also has a system for informing people about the ecological situation in their regions but it is not real time yet.

The French delegates pointed out the high efficiency of Rosatom’s industrial activities and PR policy in the regions.
