OREANDA-NEWS. On 10 September 2009 was announced, that the Turkmen-Venezuelan high-level talks resulted in an agreement between the two leaders to continue an active dialogue, both bilaterally and multilaterally, including within the framework of major international organizations, based on the principles of sound pragmatism, trust and mutual benefit.

During meetings in the narrow and expanded format Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chavez discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sphere, in particular in the sphere of production of hydrocarbons and their delivery to world markets. It was noted that the experience of Venezuela that holds the first place in Latin America by its oil reserves may find effective application in the Turkmen market as well. Hugo Chavez, in turn, stressed the interest of Venezuelan business circles in establishing close business contacts with Turkmen partners.

The two sides also discussed a number of issues of international politics and exchanged views on topical problems of modernity, stressing the need to strengthen universal peace, security and sustainable development. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Hugo Chavez also agreed to introduce the practice of regular bilateral meetings at the top and governmental levels.

Availing himself of this opportunity, Hugo Chavez invited the Turkmen president to pay an official visit to Venezuela. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov accepted the invitation with gratitude. The dates of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
