OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2009. The SCF Group’s fleet was expanded by the delivery of a technologically advanced large Suezmax tanker – SCF Primorye. The naming and delivery ceremony took place at the Daewoo Marine Shipbuilding Engineering (DMSE) ship yard (Republic of Korea).

The ceremony was attended by: the Russia’s Consul General in Pusan, Valery Ermolov; Sovcomflot Executive Board member and Managing Director of Unicom (Sovcomflot’s subsidiary) Sergey Popravko, and other representatives of the Shipowner and the Yard.

The tanker SCF Primorye, 157,300 tonnes (dwt), has been designed for the transportation of crude oil. The ship’s Length Overall (LOA) is 274 metres, Breadth (Moulded) – 48 metres, Draft (Scantling) – 17 metres. The construction of such vessels at Russian yards is not yet possible.

The tanker fully meets all the national and international safety requirements of the Norwegian classification society Det Norske Veritas and may be operated worldwide.

The tanker SCF Primorye takes her name from the Primorskiy Region in Russia, where SCF Group is implementing a number of long-term projects and is continually building up its presence. SCF Primorye is chartered on a long-term contract to one of the oil majors – ConocoPhillips, and after finishing all the formalities at the Yard, the ship will proceed to her port of loading.

The second tanker of the series – SCF Sakhalin – will join the Group’s fleet in 2010.
