OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2009. The report by the World Bank "Doing Business 2010", presented in Chisinau places Moldova on 94th place in the rating of business favourable conditions including 183 countries. The WB experts placed Moldova in top ten countries with the most efficient reforming.

 The head of the WB bureau in Moldova Melanie Marlette notes that the country ha made much progress in business initiating, registering property and taxation. Still she notes the worst results of Moldova in getting permission for construction, being in the 161st position from 183 countries. Also Moldova has bad “marks” at employment – 141st place; and at private sector export – 140th place.

In her turn, senior WB specialist in private sector development Svetlana Bagaudinova says, progress in Moldova were predictable and resulted from implementation of USAID|BIZTAR projects for competition promotion and the WB projects in the recent years. She hopes, this positive trend of 2008-2009 will persist.

She says there is much to be done, government and private sector should consolidate efforts in promoting reforms. Acting Vice-Minister of Trade and Economy Iurie Muntean notes that Moldovan progress mentioned in the WB report, actually reflect the result of Communist authorities work in the last years. Economic experts and analysts believe, in fact, in the three mentioned areas Moldova made progress, while other countries of the region as well as Africa, Asia, went much farther, with more progress.

Among former Soviet republics the highest position in rating is held by Georgia – 11th. Romania holds 55th place, Russia – 120th, Ukraine – 142nd. The first place in "Doing Business 2010" belongs to Singapore, the last Central African Republic.
