OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2009. Russia and Kazakhstan will set up an integrated company in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy, President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said during the Russian-Kazakh inter-regional cooperation forum in Orenburg (Russia).

“We have serious prospects in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, particularly, we can set up an integrated company in this field,” Medvedev said. He said that in 2008 Russia and Kazakhstan adopted a plan of joint action in 2009–2010. “This plan stipulates active work in the political, trade and economic fields, in space, in transport, communications, science and humanitarian relations. Some of the measures should be intensified,” Medvedev said.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Sauat Mynbayev said that Russia and Kazakhstan were constructively negotiating the joint venture project. But there are still some problems that need consideration, particularly, the parties have to adopt a legal decision to integrate all discovered and undiscovered deposits into the company and have to solve the problem of distribution of processing capacities.
