OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2009. According to news reports, dozens of people were killed and hundreds wounded in Conakry, capital of the Republic of Guinea, while dispersing a rally on September 28.

Sharing the international community’s reaction, Moscow is expressing very serious concern over these tragic events. They are all the more dangerous as the country is due to hold elections in early 2010, intended to restore constitutional order.

The Russian side is convinced that only the observance of the principles of democracy and human rights can ensure the successful holding of the elections, stabilization of the situation in the country and its return to legitimate governance.
