OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2009. Within the implementation of the Development Programme the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” entered into the contract for supply of crane simulator (cost- 14 mln. rubles)  in order to start the training course for the crane operators of  Sea Container Terminal on the territory of Fourth Stevedoring Company.

Simulator is meant for training of the future operators of STS, RMG, RTG. The design of the simulator fully simulates the cabin of the crane and it is equipped with 5 LSD monitors which imitate actual crane operations.

The pictures on the screen and sounds of the simulator imitating the noise from the working equipment can be adjusted depending on the time of the day, lighting and weather conditions set by the instructor.

Crane Simulator allows to perform main operations with the cargo, set different time and obstacles and it makes it possible to simulate emergency situations happening while operating the real crane (emergency stop, emergency lowering of the cargo or loss of the cargo, overloading or strong wing conditions).

The automatic evaluation system of the crane simulator will make it possible to improve the skills of the employees and to increase their labour efficiency.

New crane simulator will be placed in the Training Centre of the Marine Recruiting Agency (part of the group of the companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” in October of 2009.
