OREANDA-NEWS. October 06, 2009. In 2009, due to economic crisis and drought the recession in the gross output in agriculture of Moldova will make 25%. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc during the meeting of the cabinet of ministers.

 He noted that the crisis mostly affected the plant-growing branch. Losses in the sugar beet and sunflower industry accounted for 600 million leis. The decline was also registered in the stock-raising sector. The problems are also experienced by the canning industry.

The unsold products at the warehouses of Moldavian canneries are worth about 280 million leis. Great difficulties remain in the wine industry due to the fact that about 20 million dal of wine are accumulated at the companies’ storehouses. Due to the lack of funds, wineries have problems with the purchase of grapes, which is sold at the symbolic prices.
