OREANDA-NEWS. October 6, 2009. The Russian government, which gave RUB 25 bn to AvtoVAZ this spring, is again prepared to offer the auto maker some funds through state-run corporation Rostekhnologia, but it also anticipates similar contributions from the auto giant’s other shareholders, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said.

“The state is prepared to shoulder some of the burden relating to this process (AvtoVAZ’s restructuring),” Putin said Monday at a meeting with Renault’s vice president and AvtoVAZ board member Christian Esteve. “This concerns both the financing of operations, social facilities and financial support of the company’s Russian shareholder, Rostekhnologia”. Last Friday Putin proposed Renault, as the auto giant’s shareholder, either to provide the auto maker with funds or agree to have its equity position in the auto giant reduced.
