OREANDA-NEWS. October 8, 2009. For the fourth year running SCF Group (‘Sovcomflot’) has become a finalist in the annual Platts Global Energy Awards, sponsored by the American energy agency – Platts. In 2009 Sovcomflot was nominated for the “Downstream Operations of the Year” award.
 
The jury, which has selected the finalists for this year’s Award from almost 200 nominees across 16 prize categories, comprised top managers from major energy companies, leading scientists and international experts from the energy sector.

This year a record number of nominations has been presented. When selecting the finalists the jury took account of the nature of the companies’ activities and financial performance.
Sovcomflot was again the only Russian company which reached the finals of this prestigious international award.
SCF Group (‘Sovcomflot’)
• Is one of Russia’s largest infrastructure enterprises. Its fleet comprises 143 vessels of 9.9 million tonnes (dwt) in total; Its current shipbuilding portfolio includes 19 ships of an aggregate deadweight of 1.8 million tonnes (dwt);
• The average age of vessels in the tanker fleet is six years (the world average age is 12 years);
• SCF Group is a world leader in the product carrier segment; it is the second largest in the Aframax tanker segment;
• The company owns the largest ice-class fleet, being No.1 in the segment of the Arctic shuttle tankers and ice-classed LNG tankers;
