OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2009. Bakcell, one of the key mobile operators in Azerbaijan, continues investing in the country’s infrastructure.

The company informed that since the beginning of this year Bakcell has carried out an ambitious and large-scale project to expand and modernize its network.

“As part of this project Bakcell has considerably expanded its network in Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2009, Bakcell constructed and launched 22 new base stations all over Nakhichivan,  bringing the total number of its base stations in the autonomous republic to 42. As a result of this network expansion, all major highways and arterial roads in Nakhichivan are covered by Bakcell’s network now,” the company said.

Bakcell will continue work to expand its network in the territory of Nakhichivan next year as well. Bakcell subscribers in Nakhichivan can also use EDGE service for high-speed internet.

Bakcell is first mobile operator in Azerbaijan. Network of Bakcell covers more than 80% of Azerbaijani territory. The number of active Bakcell subscribers is close to 2 million.
