OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2009. Among other things, the Government Cabinet has been charged with laying out a development programme for the food production market by the end of the year and with providing increased capacity for storage and marketing of agricultural products.

The Cabinet has also been asked to submit proposals for the development of the foodstuff and processing industry, to put together a package of measures to introduce a seed growing system that would cover at least 75 percent of total demand for seeds of all the country’s main crops, and to create the conditions required for an increase in grain exports through the expansion of export infrastructure facilities, including the construction of port silos in the Southern and Far Eastern Federal Districts.

With regards to finance the Cabinet must examine the issue of budgetary subsidies for certain types of loan and encourage commercial banks to engage in more agricultural lending.

Another instruction concerns the development of a unified information system for the agro-industrial complex.
