OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2009. The Exhibition of Turkmenistan’s economic achievements was arranged at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat to mark the 18th anniversary of independence. The organizers of the large-scale exhibition were the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ashgabat Khyakimlik.

The high-ranking officials of the high-ranking of the Mejlis, cabinet ministers, the heads of the representative offices and diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, the high-ranking officials of the national ministries and departments and journalists attended the opening ceremony.

The Turkmen leader’s welcoming statement to forum participants was presented at the opening ceremony. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the importance of the exhibition that was to demonstrate world community the results of diligent and selfless labour of Turkmen citizens that transformed independent neutral Turkmenistan before the very eyes.

The expositions arranged in the Central Asia’s largest Expo Centre with the total area of 1,500 square metres showcase the unprecedented process of modernization and diversification of all the sectors of the national economy.

The honorary guests and first visitors of the exhibition were the participants of the International Investment Forum that had completed its work in Ashgabat. The forum participants held the meetings and business talks with the high-ranking officials of the national ministries and departments. The exposition of the project on creation of Avaza national tourism zone – the world-class seaside resort on the Caspian Sea coast was of particular interest to foreign guests.

The exhibition demonstrated that the key goals of Turkmenistan’s economic policy was to develop business sector and export oriented industries that manufacture finished products that was vividly illustrated by the expositions of the fuel and energy sector, construction materials, textile and chemical industries.

The large-scale exhibition showcased the achievements of Turkmen producers, who actively adopted advanced technologies and best international practice. The exhibition provided an opportunity to learn about the dynamics and prospects for development of the regions of the country. All the velayats prepared the joint exposition, the bright palette of which reflected their economic potential. The leading enterprises and complexes of Turkmenistan including Turkmenbashi oil refineries and Balkanbalyk State Enterprise presented the expositions at the Exhibition Centre.

The expositions of the agro-industrial enterprises of Turkmenistan had a special place in the exhibition. These included the Food Industry Association, Turkmenmallary Association, Turkmengallaonumleri Association, Turkmen Atlary State Association, Turkmenpagta State Concern, the Ministry of Nature Protection and the Ministry of Water Industry, the State Committee of Fishing Industry of Turkmenistan. During the past years the range of meat, dairy and macaroni products, sausages and confections, vegetable oils, baby food, tinned meat and fish was considerably broadened and the weight of domestically manufactured products in the basket of goods was increased in the country. In particular, fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products, the demand for which was fully met in Turkmenistan, were presented at the exhibition. The packing of tinned food, dried fruits, wine met world standards.

The farming standards have been profoundly improved in the epoch of New Revival. Today, our country grows olives, dates, pistachios along with traditional crops such as watermelons, melons, grapes. Advanced irrigation and biosaline technologies are actively in agricultural sector.

The business sector, which played an important role in the national economy, presented its potential at the exhibition. Today, domestic businesses invest in production of food, printing products, construction materials, carpets and other products.

The exhibition organized on the eve of the main national holiday vividly reflected the accomplishments and progress achieved by Turkmenistan during the years of independent development.
