OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2009. The specialists of the Ahalnebitgasgozleg Department of Turkmengeologiya State Corporation made a wonderful present to the Motherland for Independence Day. A thick gas flow was received from well 1 drilled in the new prospect field – Geyazly located 30 kilometers to the southeast of Erbent settlement, Ahal Velayat. The hydrocarbon stratum was discovered at the depth of 2,600-2,620 metres. In accordance with the preliminary survey the well flow rate is 500,000 cubic metres of ‘blue fuel’ and 33 cubic metres of gas condensate a day.

According to Turkmengeologiya State Concern these results allow speaking about the discovery of a new gas condensate field in Central Karakum. The first well is being tested. Upon completing the works the geologists will have the comprehensive data about the formation thickness of this prospective stratum.

To ensure this volume of ‘blue fuel’ production the Turkmengeologiya specialists steadily strengthen the raw materials base of gas industry that is illustrated by the recent discoveries of gas and gas-condensate fields throughout the country. Thus, Agarguyi, Northern Gazlydepe fields were discovered in Lebap Velayat, Southern Gutlyyak, Geyazli – in Ahal Velayat, Minara – in Mary Velayat.

Furthermore, commercial gas flows received in the proven oil fields expand the areal limits of gas sand and ensure the increase in commercial gas reserves. The flows have been received in the fields such as Northern Nayip, Bagaja, Cartak in Lebap Velayat, Garajaovlak – in Ahal Velayat, Garadurun and Ajiyap – in Balkan Velayat.

The Southern Yoloten-Osman deposit in Mary Velayat is an illustrative example. According to the results of the audit conducted by the Gaffney, Cline & Associates firm last year this field ranksd among the top four largest gas deposits in the world. The audit estimated the gas reserves in Southern Yoloten-Osman as 4 trillion cubic metres – the lowest rate, 6 trillion cubic metres and 14 trillion cubic metres – the highest rate. Today Turkmengeologiya specialists continue the prospecting works in Yashlar and Minara, Gunorta Garakel, Garakel, Jurji, Gazanly, Gundogar Yoloten and Gunbatar Yandakly deposits. There is every reason to assume that these deposits and highly prospective gas areas may form the largest oil and gas zone in the world. It is possible that the total gas reserves of this zone will be more than those in the Southern Yoloten-Osman field.

Turkmenistan, which has the huge gas reserves and is the largest ‘blue fuel’ producer in Central Asia, ranks among the world’s energy producers. The profound resource potential steadily enhanced by the Turkmen geologists will allow increasing the volumes of production and processing of natural and liquefied gas in the following years. The increase in natural gas production will guarantee gas exports to world markets for many years ahead.
