Belarus’ consumer prices went up 0.3% on the month in September 2009, compared with a decrease of 0.2% in August, rise of 0.4% in July, 0.4% in June, 0.3% in May, 0.4% in April, 0.6% in March, 1.2% in February, 4.1% in January 2009, 1.2% in December 2008, an official in the National Statistics Committee told. Prices rose 7.9% in January-September.

Over the past 12 months consumer prices have risen 11.7%. Food prices were unchanged in September 2009 and went up 5.3% in January-September, non-food prices went up 0.9% and 9.3%, and consumer services prices increased 0.2% and 11.6%, respectively.

In 2008, inflation accelerated 13.3%, above the original annual target of 6%-8%, and worst since 2004, which recorded a 14.4% inflation pace. The government hopes to settle within 9%-11% this year.
