OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2009. Belarus is ready to develop joint production of tractors with Libya, First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko said in a session of the Belarusian-Libyan intergovernmental commission for economic, trade and sci-tech cooperation, reported the Official website government.by.

According to Vladimir Semashko, the two countries have a good base for developing trade and economic cooperation in all areas. “There are no hurdles for our relations to be continued. A necessary treaty and legal base has already been developed,” said the Vice-Premier and added that the two sides have an agreement on the trade, economic and investment cooperation and an agreement on double taxation avoidance.

“We have not used our potential to its full extent yet,” Vladimir Semashko said. In his words, Belarus and Libya have three or four large projects that “have already matured for implementation”. “The project in the engineering industry is the most important today. During a tour of the MTZ Company the Libyan guests got interested in setting up joint companies to produce tractors,” Vladimir Semashko said.

The Belarusian side offers Libya its assistance in the construction and infrastructure area. In particular, the Belzarubezhstroi company is ready to partake in the construction of a runway of one of the Libyan airports.
