OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2009. Cargo turnover of Arkhangelsk Commercial Seaport decreased by 33.9% (to 2.758 mln tons) within 10 months 2009. Port administration informed that volume of import cargo transhipped increased by 20.2% (to 318.3 thousand tons) including general cargoes turnover that went up by 32.6% (to 304 thousand tons), loaded containers transhipment decreased by 60% (down to 14.3 thousand tons).

Export cargoes transhipment volumes went down by 30.1% (to 1,085,000 thousand tons) including those of oil products - by 0.3% (to 477.9 thousand tons), lumber - by 11.2% (to 386.5 thousand tons), coal - by 80.2% (to 88.9 thousand tons).

Coastal cargoes turnover decreased by 41.3% (to 1,335,000 thousand tons) against 2008 figures.

Crude oil transhipment volume decreased by 53.9% (to 659.8 thousand tons).

Arkhangelsk Commercial Seaport is located in the estuary of the Severnaya Dvina flowing into the White Sea. This port with a round-the-year navigation is on the way of the Northern Sea Route. The port is specialized in transshipment of general cargo, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metal, fertilizers, heavy equipment and dry bulk cargo. Arkhangelsk Commercial Seaport facilities allow handling 4.5 million tons of cargo annually.
