OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2009. Cotton growers in Mary Etrap reported on the fulfillment of the contractual obligations. They delivered over 310,000 tons of ‘white gold’ to the receiving points of the country. It is a worthy result of the farmers’ labour on each of 165,000 hectares of the area sown with this valuable crop.

The widespread variety in the region is Yoloten-7 middle and Yoloten-14 fine staple cotton varieties. These cotton varieties were bred by the Turkmen specialists on the fertile soils in the Murghab valley. Cotton growers of Yoloten Etrap were the first in Turkmenistan to report on the fulfillment of the contractual obligations on the eve of Independence Day. Cotton growers of Murgab, Sakarchaga, Karakum, Turkmenkala and Oguzkhan Etraps followed their lead. Thus, through the common efforts the region achieved the high result.

Cotton growers’ labour victory is a result of the hard work as well as the large-scale agricultural reforms initiated by the Turkmen leader to provide material incentives to agricultural workers. This is the focus of the reforms implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan in compliance with the principle “a state for the people”.
