OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2009. By the end of the year the company is to acquire 700 hatch-covered open wagons (model 12-1303-01) made by CJSC Promtraktor-Vagon. As announced by Igor Asaturov, deputy general director of JSC Freight One, “this type of wagon compares favourably with those of other manufacturers in terms of the price-quality ratio, which why Freight One chose them.”

The run between repairs of the 12-1303-10 model until its first roundhouse service is 500,000km. Unlike other models, the new railcar does not need TO-3 maintenance [Russian technical standards]. The open wagon is fitted with model 18—9771 undercarriages, also manufactured by CJSC Promtraktor-Vagon. The use of this type of undercarriage reduces the cost of operating and repairing the undercarriage and provides a long run between overhauls.

One of Freight One’s strategic tasks is to update its fleet of freight wagons. Moreover, as Mr. Asaturov underlined, this will involve not just a replacement of old, out-of-operation wagons for new ones, but the provision of new models for the company fleet with improved technical specifications. Model 12-1303-01 open wagons meet these requirements.

For the record, in 2009 JSC Freight One procured 1,200 closed-bottom open wagons (model 12-9788-01) that are currently in operation. In total this year Freight One has purchased more than 8,000 units of rolling-stock from various manufacturers. At present one in ten of the company’s wagons is new and was bought in 2008—2009.
