OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2009. The scientific solution on the Zuevskaya TPP’s turbine К-300-240-2 reconstruction implemented jointly by Vostokenergo (DTEK) and Turboatom OJSC specialists in 2008 was one of 15 projects to win the Ukraine’s State Prize Awarding Competition.

The turbine upgrading with the new solutions of Ukrainian machine-builders applied resulted in the power unit #2 increasing its efficiency by 4.6 %, installed capacity by 20 MW, expanding its flexibility range from 135 to 170 MW, and prolonging the service life of the turbine itself by 15 years.

Reconstruction of unit #2 of Zuevskaya TPP which cost UAH117m is a part of a large-scale upgrading of Vostokenego (DTEK) TPPs, which envisages reconstruction of all 17 power units of the Company.

The Vostokenergo (DTEK) power units reconstruction experience is important for rehabilitation of energy equipment of Ukrainian thermal generation as a whole. 42 similar turbine sets at Ukrainian TPPs require immediate restoration since they have exhausted their operation reserve.

The project had been submitted for consideration of the Science and Engineering State Prize of Ukraine’s Committee in early 2009, then was publicly discussed and underwent the expert assessment of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine. The State Prize Committee, having analyzed the materials, ranked the project the best in its sphere in 2009. In late November 2009, at the final meeting of the Scientific Council 73 votes out of 110 named the solution the best in the ‘Thermal Equipment’ section. On November 30, 2009, the Order of the President of Ukraine determined the Winners of the State Prize for 2009.
