OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2009. OAO Izhorskiye Zavody, a part of OMZ Group, became a laureate of the Made In St. Petersburg product quality contest organized by the St. Petersburg Government and SPbGU Product and Service Quality Control Center. LKT-40S reactor casing, manufactured by Izhorskiye Zavody in 2008 for the world’s first floating nuclear power plant, had received the Golden Sign of Quality.

Made In St. Petersburg contest involved two stages. The first stage comprised industry-specific nominations; in particular, products made by Izhorskiye Zavody had received the first place in the nomination ‘Industrial and Technical Products’ in the St. Petersburg Mercury contest organized by St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce in Industry, which allowed the company to take part in the second stage of the competition.

The award ceremony was held on November 11 in the Hall of Columns of the Smolny Palace. The ceremony was held by Mikhail Oseevsky, St. Petersburg Vice Governor.

Made In St. Petersburg contest is being held since 2005. Its main goal is to determine the highest-quality products manufactured by St. Petersburg companies in order to promote them on the inter-regional markets under the ‘Made In St. Petersburg’ brand, and to provide the customers with detailed information about the manufacturers.

Izhorskiye Zavody products have received numerous awards for quality. In 2002 VVER-1000 reactor casing manufactured for Tianwan nuclear power plant in China had received the all-Russian XXI Century Sign of Quality award, and in 2004 the reactor casing for Indian Koodankulam nuclear power plant became the winner of 100 Best Russian Goods contest.
