OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2009. Ukrenerho has sold five of the 18 lots, with a total volume of sold capacities of 275MWatt, to three companies on the first auction for sale of access to networks for exporting electricity, which went ahead yesterday.  The buyers were Zakhidenerho (100MWatt), DTEK Shidenerho (150MWatt) and Ukrinterenerho (25MWatt) companies. The total worth of the access sold is UAH 141.3mn. The companies have bought the possibility to export electricity through the whole of next year. Other lots were withdrawn from the auction for lack of bids.

Millennium Capital had been skeptical thought about a possibility of this auction taking off, with too many vested interests intertwined with regard to involvement in Ukrainian electricity exports. The auction was postponed several times and an attempt to put it back once again was undertaken the day before the announced auction date by way of pushing through a court of law injunction. However, now Millennium Capital sees the fact that this auction went ahead eventually as a POSITIVE fact, which can be seen as evidence of a more transparent export access distribution.
