OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2009. DTEK Vostokenergo, part of DTEK, Ukraine’s leading fuel and energy company, has gained access to 150 MW of network capacity for the cross-border electricity exportation in 2010.
 
At the auction arranged on 16 December 2009 by the Auction Commission of the National Energy Company ‘Ukrenergo’, DTEK Vostokenergo acquired three lots of 50 MW each for a combined total of UAH83.5m (USD10.4 million).The electricity will be generated at Burshtyn Island TPP and supplied to European countries.
 
DTEK was one of five companies that took part in the auction, which also included NNEGC Energoatom, Zapadenergo OJSC, SFTC Ukrinterenergo and ‘Belotserkovskaya CHPP’ CJSC.
 
Maxim Timchenko, DTEK’s Chief Executive Officer, commented:
 
“Auctions like this are significant, not only for their participants, but for Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector as a whole.  The bidding was open and competitive and conducted in line with typical European standards, which demonstrates further progress towards Ukraine’s goal of working more closely with, and becoming an integral part of, the European energy community.
 
“As a result of the auction, Ukraine’s largest electricity generators have gained access to external markets, which is a very important step forward. This will enable energy providers to diversify their income streams and generate additional funds from overseas customers, which will play a vital part in advancing the reconstruction and upgrading of production facilities. This additional investment will, in turn, enable us to increase our capacity to provide the best service to our customers”.

Service-Invest and Energougol ENE represent the electricity distribution business of DTEK. Their share of electricity purchase in SE Energorynok in 2008 made 6.5%.
