OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2009. The Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat hosted the International Road Transport Exhibition organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Meridyen Exhibition Company.

The first automobile show presented automotive vehicles produced by over 30 world’s leading manufacturers, car accessories, spare parts that were in high demand on the Turkmen market. The foreign companies providing after-sales services and maintenance presented a wide range of services.

The ceremony of opening the three-day forum brought together the cabinet ministers, the high-ranking officials of the Mejlis, the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, the representatives of public organisations – the members of the Galkynysh National Movement and journalists.

The welcoming statement of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants of the International Road Transport Exhibition was presented at the ceremony. Congratulating the participants on opening the Exhibition the Turkmen leader noted that the road transport sector of Turkmenistan developing rapidly in recent years had turned into a leading sector of the economy. The Turkmen leader expressed belief that the International Road Transport Exhibition in Turkmenistan would open up new opportunities to expand mutually advantageous cooperation with foreign partners in this promising field.

Development of full-scale cooperation in the road transport sector including procurement of various types of equipment as well as modernization of road infrastructure is conditioned by Turkmenistan’s strategy for diversification of the national economy. Modern high-technology equipment allows implementing large-scale fuel and energy projects, building roads and railways, developing virgin lands, accelerating industrial and civilian construction within a short period. In this regard modernization and replenishment of the fleets of the sectors of the national economy and passenger transport of the country play an important role.

The stands of the road and railway transport ministries, the enterprises of the Turkmendenizyollary Department and others vividly demonstrate the achievements in development of the transport sector in the country. The local private enterprises specialized in selling spare parts, lubricants and motor oils showcased their potential.

During three days the visitors leant about the industrial and export potential of the companies participating in the Exhibition such as Zeppelin Turkmenistan, Turkmen Auto Centre, Turkmen Marketing, APC Motors and the others that sell cars and specialized machinery. The new models of Toyota and Mitsubishi (Japan), Renault (France), Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen (Germany) cars were presented.

Hydraulic, rubber, pneumatic units, inner and outer tires, car lighting and electrical equipment were demonstrated in the pavilions of the Turkish companies including ANSAN HIDROLIK, GOTSA, GOLDMASTER, GOKER, PETROLAKS, TEMSA GLOBAL, VECTOR OTOMOTIV and other. The wide exposition of service and garage equipment, control and testing devices, auto-displays and audio-systems was arranged. The special stands and pavilions presented the materials for vehicles design and outdoor advertisement.

Numerous heavy vehicles – trucks, hoisting cranes, bulldozers, excavators and passenger buses were exhibited in the open-air area adjacent to the Exhibition Centre.

The first International Road Transport Exhibition in Turkmenistan was an excellent opportunity for foreign companies to demonstrate products and identify the specific fields of cooperation during the business meetings with Turkmen partners. That was conditioned by intense interest of businessmen from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Sweden and Uzbekistan, who took part in the Exhibition. Viewing the car market of Turkmenistan as very promising, the foreign partners expressed keen interest in developing long-term business contacts.
