OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2009. Casting and Rolling Complex (CRC, OMK-Steel Subsidiary in the Vyksa District, Nizhni Novgorod Region) has become a winner of the contest "National Environment Award 2009" in the category “Innovative Environmentally Efficient Technologies for Industry.” CRC won the Award for its project “Surface and Drainage Water Collection Facilities as Part of the Company’s Water Recycling System.” The Award ceremony was held in the Presidential Hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) last week.

This year, 140 projects participated in the contest “National Environment Award 2009.” The main selection criteria included relevance, economic efficiency, social significance, financial viability, and compliance with international standards and agreements.

The Award Certificate was presented to Oleg Tarasov, Head of the OMK Directorate for Environmental, Industrial, and Occupational Safety; and Natalia Novikova, CRC Environmental Engineer.

Established in 2003 by the Vernadsky Nongovernmental Ecological Foundation and the Russian State Duma Committee for Environment, the National Environment Award is purported to encourage the most efficient projects pertaining to energy efficiency, efficient use of resources, environmentally friendly facilities, and environmental education and enlightenment.
