OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. In January 2010 the number of VolgaTelecom’s Internet broadband users has amounted to 1 million, and among them over 896,000 or about 90% are individual subscribers (for them the Company provides the services under “J”TM).

VolgaTelecom has been providing Internet broadband services to individuals and legal entities since 2004. In 2006 for individuals the Company introduced “J”TM on the market of 11 regions of the Volga Federal district. As per the data of Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M Consulting) VolgaTelecom is among the five largest Internet broadband services providers in Russia from the point of view of subscribers – individuals. The Company plans that the millionth J subscriber will be connected to the Internet as early as in Q 1-2010.

The development of high-rate Internet access services is the priority for VolgaTelecom. Despite strong competition the Company maintains dominant positions among the providers of the Volga Federal District with over 50% market share in VolgaTelecom’s service area. The Company provides Internet access services on the basis of various technologies: хDSL, Ethernet, WiFi. In 2009 the investments into the development of broadband services in this area as well as into data transmission network amounted to RUB 1.103 billion.

The Company believes the improvement of quality of service technical features, as well as sales system and customer service to be priority trends of broadband access services development. VolgaTelecom has implemented the system of monitoring which allows for controlling service and technical status of providing Internet access services. The arrangements intended at improvement of quality of broadband access services are elaborated on the basis of the results of monthly monitoring. In 2009 in a number of its branches the Company put into operation the security system for xDSL users of Internet services. The implementation of this project will allow for improving the protection against the attempts of unauthorized access to the network under authentication data of another user.

“In 2010 the Company is planning to start to provide Internet access on the basis of FTTx technology allowing for transmitting the data at the rate up to 100 Mbps – says Andrey Kuznetsov – VolgaTelecom’s Deputy General Director – Chief Commercial Officer, - Furthermore, we will continue to develop Triple Play services, such as Internet access and data transmission, SIP-telephony and IP-TV.”

The range of services will be expanded due to integration of various high-tech telecommunications services and additional services accompanying telecom business development: entertainment portals, forums, e-mail, etc. In 2009 Nizhny Novgorod branch became the pilot region for IP-TV implementation, HDTV including. This year it is planned to provide IP-TV services to the subscribers on the entire territory of the Company’s service area.
