OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. Deputy Chairman of the State Standards Committee Viktor Nazarenko said during a session of the Council of Ministers.

Nazarenko said the draft action plan to change to new technical regulations in 2010 is based on European food safety standards, as well as the Russian federal standard on technical regulations applied to milk and dairy products.

New regulations will be applied not only to final products, but also to production, storage and transport.

“Many of the parameters we include in the new regulations are the sanitary norms we already have. We have tighter requirements to many parameters than in Russia, under European standards,” he said.

Nazarenko said more stringent requirements would be applied to lead and pesticide content.

“Furthermore, for milk, cream and other dairy products, Belarus has broadened the range of pesticides to be controlled. We have for the first time set requirements for residuals of veterinary pharmaceuticals in raw milk. These will be introduced on January 1, 2012,” Nazarenko said.
