OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2010. State commercial insurance company Azersigorta succeeded in remaining leadership summarizing results of 2009 after numerous changes in the five leaders of the Azerbaijani insurance market in accordance with figures of activity during 2009.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance reported that following the results of 2009,  Azersigorta ranked the first position with premiums in the amount of AZN 26.5 million and AZN 12.22 million of payments. The company’s share in the market totaled 16.22%.

Insurance company Xalq Sigorta, which was in the lead four months in succession before, became the second with small lag following the results of the year. On 1st January, 2009, the company’s premiums totaled AZN 24.29 million with payments to the sum of AZN 1.39 million.

The International Insurance Company (IIC) retained the honorary third place with premiums in the amount of AZN 14.82 million.

Azal Sigorta ranked the fourth place with premiums in the amount of AZN 13.22 million. Ateshgah occupied the fifth position with premiums to the sum of AZN 12.31 million   in the rating  following the results of the year.

AzSigorta with premiums in the amount of AZN 10.7 million, Pasha Sigorta with premiums in the amount of AZN 10.31 million and A-Qroup with premiums to the sum of AZN 7.23 million became the closest to the five leaders summarizing the results of the year.

The final report for 2009 was made on activities of 28 insurance companies.

Over the reporting period the insurance companies’ overall premiums amounted to AZN 163.31 million and insurance payments - AZN 53.07 million.
