OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2010. A regular guest session of the Working Group on Modernizing Mono Cities under the Governmental Commission on Enhancing the Russian Economy’s Sustainable Development chaired by the Working Group’s Head, Vnesheconombank Deputy Chairman Irina Makieva was held in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny on January 28-29, 2010.

In attendance of the meeting were Russian Agricultural Deputy Minister Oleg Aldoshin, Russian Health and Social Development Deputy Minister Maxim Topilin, Russian Development Bank Management Board Chairman Sergei Krukov, Deputy General Director of State Corporation – the Foundation for Reforming Housing and Communal Services Vladimir Talalykin as well as representatives of the Russian Regional Development Ministry and the Russian Economic Development Ministry.

In the course of the session its participants discussed comprehensive investment plans of modernizing such multi-profile populated areas as Naberezhnye Chelny and Kamskie Polyany. The Working Group’s members made their remarks and proposals concerning certain draft plans.

As part of the session the Working Group’s members paid a visit to the Kama Industrial Park ‘Master’ the Kamskie Polyany Industrial Park and other industrial and social facilities in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny and the urban-type settlement of Kamskie Polyany. Speaking at the session Irina Makieva said that “the following three priorities were singled out for us, namely, Naberezhnye Chelny, Tolgiatti, Nizhny Tagil. We are sure to support Naberezhnye Chelny. The matter is that a lot depends on a set of projects. Today we have visited several enterprises and could see what we should add to the program and what we should change in terms of financing to benefit the city”.

“Our Working Group’s seeks to identify and find unique projects put together a comprehensive plan and the gist of it is a balance of labor resources. After modifying the project aimed at modernizing the economy of Naberezhnye Chelny, we intend to submit it to consideration by the governmental commission headed by Igor Shuvalov, said the Head of the Working Group.

Sessions on finalizing the comprehensive investment plan of modernizing Naberezhnye Chelny will be held in Moscow. Each plan for 27 mono cities incorporated into the program is being deal with on an individual basis.
