OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2010. CenterTelecom completed construction of its intra-zone multiservice network with 10G transmission capacity in the territory of Kursk region.

The company laid over 420 km optic fiber telecommunications lines and installed thirty six 10G nodes for IP/MPLS network in 27 districts of Kursk region in order to put the multiservice network with 940 km length into operation.

The network's transmission capacity (10Gbps) allows not only to improve the quality of traditional telephony services but also to expand significantly a range of newest telecommunications services provided by CenterTelecom in the territory of Kursk region. Among these new services which are now available to CenterTelecom's individual subscribers and corporate customers are Triple Play (broadband Internet access, IP TV and telephony) and VPN services.

Availability of high speed Internet access to the inhabitants of rural areas is an important outcome of putting of multiservice network into operation in Kursk region. Prior to this the Kursk branch's technical capabilities did not allow to provide high speed Internet access based on ADSL 2+ technology in rural localities.

Launch of 10G intra-zone network in Kursk region represents the last stage of construction of CenterTelecom's multiservice networks with 10Gbps transmission capacity. To date the network of CenterTelecom, the biggest operator of fixed line telecommunications in Russia's Central Federal District, unites capitals and major cities of 17 regions of Central Russia into a unified information space.
