OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2010. On February 5, 2010 the trading volume in futures and options on FORTS reached the value of RUR 150,076,424,378 (USD5 billion) and  664,093 trades were executed by the end of the main trading session.

On November 30, 2009 the trading volume on FORTS hit RUR 129,395,698,925 (USD4.3 billion) which reset the maximum value of  trading volume on FORTS since its  launch.

On February 5, 2010 a new trading record was set on the RTS Index futures contract, the most liquid instrument of the Russian financial market. The trading volume in this contract reached 1,295,944 contracts  or RUR110,030,510,653 or USD 3.7 million in terms of notional value, by the end of the trading session. The number of trades by the end of the trading day reached 426,104.

The previous record in trading RTS Index futures contract was registered on October 29, 2009. On that day the trading volume reached RUR 90,061,020,353 (USD3 million) in value and the number of trades reached 597,361.

FORTS, the derivatives market of RTS, is the leading trading venue for futures and options in Russia. Trading on FORTS started in September 2001. At present FORTS has the widest range of instruments in Russia. These are 46 contracts (33 futures and 13 options) on shares of Russian companies, bonds, short term interest rates, currency, RTS Index, oil, silver, diesel oil, sugar and gold.
