OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2010. It was said by the head of the Resident Representative Office of the WB in Moldova Melanie Marlett. She said the WB had a vast portfolio projects implemented in the country with the total unused part of them totaling US157 million. Some of these projects are generously funded by Moldova’s development partners: the European Union, Swedish International Development Agency, Netherlands and Japan.

The portfolio contains such projects as the Central State Governance, the State Finance Management, Raise of Competitiveness, Social Support and Health Care, High-quality Education in Rural Area, Education for All, Bird Flue, the Second Project of Investments in the Rural Area, the Second Project of Social Investment Fund of Moldova, Forestry, the Second Energy Project, Support to the Road Sector, State Water Supply and Canalization, Ecological Infrastructure, the National Financial Market Commission, Support to the Economic Court, Hepatitis A and B. Melanie Marlett said the International Finance Corporation, a member of the WB Group and investing in private sector also carries out an active activity in Moldova.

According to the head of the WB Representative Office in Chisinau, the International Finance Corporation will continue providing credit-financial institutions with documentary operations, credit lines and consulting services for crediting small and medium-sized enterprises and supporting regional private direct investment funds helping to support Moldovan companies’ competitiveness. The International Finance Corporation has recently provided US15 million to the Union Fenosa company to improve distribution of electric power in Moldova.
