OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2010. Belarus’ OAO Olivaria, a brewery based in the city of Minsk, produced 6.35 million decaliters of beer in 2009, a decrease of 2.5% on the year, a representative in Belgospischeprom concern told.

In December, Olivaria made 439,000 decaliters of beer, own 12.4% on the year.

Beer offering in plastic bottles rose 6.1% to 4.388 million decaliters in January-December, in glass bottles decreased 20.3% to 1.594 million decaliters, and in kegs declined 2.3% to 369,000 decaliters.

The brewery accounted for 18.9% of Belarus’ beer production in the first eleven months, up 0.5 of a percentage point year-on-year.

Olivaria beer sales amounted to 6.362 million decaliters in January-December, down 2.3% on the year.

Olivaria was founded in 1864 and transformed into a joint stock company in 1994. In December 2006, Sweden’s BBH acquired a 30% stake in Olivaria by purchasing an additional issue of shares for USD 18.5 million.

Carlsberg A/S acquired a stake in Olivaria through a purchase of a BBH shareholding from Scottish&Newcastle.
